Epiphone Les Paul Player Pack Review

Some comments from people who come to the forum about this model:

Used as a beginner's guitar.

The guitar itself is good, especially for it's price point. The sound is good, from clean to a ton of fuzz, it plays nicely. The one we got has a bit of fret buzz, altough it isn't very noticeable.

The amp is exactly what you'd expect for something so cheap. It's enough to get a feel for it and see if you'd like to invest into a better one.

The strap is okay, so are the tuner and picks. The cable became patchy very early on, and we couldn't move around much, but it still did it's job.

Overall, while it's individual parts might not be the greatest things, as a whole, it certainly delivers on what it wants to be: a decent guitar pack for people just starting out. Recommended it.

Ordered the Epiphone Les Paul pack as I?ve always fancied trying the electric guitar after having an acoustic & started reading the Thomann reviews. Decided to go ahead & I have no regrets whatsoever. The delivery arrived on the date given by UPS & everything in the order was as described. I?m having great fun with the guitar )it?s the Les Paul special II & sounds awesome. I?ll be using your services again very soon as now my son has put an electric guitar on his Christmas list! Thanks for the great service.

Comment:

Great value for money,as a bass player that tinkers on guitar and having a bit more time to myself I had to buy this.
It plays lovely after a bit of a set up and some new strings
Fingerboard was a bit dry but fine now after some lem oil
Stays in tune quite well, sounds decent and looks great to me
Arrived well packaged in about 5 days
Highly recommend if looking for a cheap guitar

Comment:

To be 100% completely honest, This guitar is amazing, the features are just as good as a €1000+ Gibson Les Paul. It has the same features, same Gauge strings as a Gibson. For €140 I thought this was honestly not going to be as good as I thought, but in all honesty, it's a great guitar especially for those only starting out. 100% recommend it anytime

Thanks Thomann!

Epiphone Les Paul Player Pack Review

Some comments from people who come to the forum about this model:

This really is everything you need to get you started playing the guitar. Some of these "starter packs" are so shoddy that they'll put you off playing for life, but this is great.

In the pack, you get the guitar (of course…) a practice amp and some other useful stuff. the big surprise is that it's all decent quality. The guitar first…right out of the box, it was nicely set up, with a very playable action. Like a lot of these kits, it would benefit from a better set of strings, but there's nothing wrong with the ones it comes with. It's a nice, fast neck with tuners that work really well – general build quality is excellent. Not the greatest paint job in the world, but saying that, it's a cool looking instrument. The gig bag doesn't offer a huge amount of protection, but it'll keep the dust off at least. The clip on tuner is excellent – I wasn't too sure what to make of this kind of device, but it's handy and accurate. It also comes with a battery – bonus! The amp is OK – a little "fizzy" but more than adequate to start you off – a word of warning – like most Thomann products, it comes with a two pin euro plug, so make sure you've got an adapter if you're in the UK. They're pennies on line, but if you're buying this for a present, just make sure you've got one handy to avoid disappointment. Strap and lead are functional – no frills, but they work well enough. I haven't tried out the instructional DVD, but I have used the lovely "Epiphone" sticker that came with the instructions!

This is one of the better starter packs – highly recommended.

Comment:

We got this guitar as a give-away for the end of a tour with the guitar being used every day of the tour on stage, we found that straight out the box it was setup perfectly? Never had that with any guitar but meant it could do 2 months of straight touring and then given away as prize,
Fantastic!

2020 Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard Outfit Review

Some comments from people who come to the forum about this model:

Comment:

I am a guitar player for 25 jears. Finally there is a payable alternative for
a nice Gibson Les Paul guitar that does not suck.
It still cost some money but you get some nice things in return. Real Gibson burstbuckers, the 50's wiring and the nice switch.
There also is a graph tech Nubone nut.
Finally i got "that" tone. From Slash to Eric Clapton and Gary Moore.
I never found it in an other guitar.
Some negative points:
I will change the tuners to locking tuners because they aren't that nice.
One the pickguard there is a small burr, easy removable if you know what you are doing.
Also do not forget to buy a extra wide and comfy guitar strap because this guitar is F'ing heavy.
Positive:
It is affordable.
It is beautiful.
Out of the box the action and intonation was ok.
The guitar has "that" sound.
you can easily do the Gary Moore eternal sustain thing.
The feel and playability are superb.
Nice fretwork, no sharp edges and not a single buzzing fret.
I cannot imagine that a "real" Gibson is much better.

I love this guitar, even before the mod.
Do not hesitate, just buy it. You will be happy, I know I am.

Comment:

This is a very nice guitar, with solid construction and finish. It's a bit on the heavy side, as is to be expected for a Les Paul, has good sustain, usable tuners, a nice chunky neck, and sounds good unplugged.
Setup out of the box was a bit dodgy, there was some rattling and intonation was off, but nothing that a bit of work couldn't fix.
The included case is nice but not great; careful: the inside is relentlessly pink.

Now for the absolute stars of the show: the Burstbucker pickups.
I know this is a matter of taste, but these are the best pickups I've ever heard in any guitar. I was expecting much, but was still pleasantly surprised. Sound is full and detailed, they are very responsive to playing dynamics, and overall just really, really take this guitar to another level.

Overall, if you are considering this guitar and are aware that it's a fifties style, chunky, heavy guitar for players with large hands and strong backs, then by all means get it, now. It's great.

Epiphone 'Inspired By Gibson' Les Paul Classic - An Awesome New Worn Finish! - Review & Demo

Some comments from people who come to the forum about this model:

Comment:

I ordered the guitar a few days ago. It arrived quickly and very well packed. While I was waiting for the shipment, I watched a few videos online. I didn't know what to expect from pickups this model. But all doubts were dispelled instantly when I plugged it into the amplifier. Exceptional sound. Very clean tone suitable for blues. But also a solid rock and metal relic. Typical LP sound. I think the guitar is suitable for beginners and intermediate students. I would personally recommend it to any LP fan. I play blues and this guitar fits perfectly in my hands. As a side note, maybe I can point out the finish. Especially on my guitar, there are some very slight indentations in the body. Of course, this can be an effect. However, the guitar has a worn finish.

Comment:

First and foremost, I'm very happy that I own this gorgeous guitar. I'm merely just an amateur so I'll write down just what I got from this guitar. At first look, the matte gold finish looks great. But looking closely will reveal some imperfections on it, mostly on the paint. The new headstock is also great. Although I have very small hands, it's not that hard for me to play with it. Higher notes though will probably be a trouble for most. I don't own the best amp, but I get great tones on a clear channel. Things get a bit muddy when I add some gain, but I'm not sure who's to blame there. I get some buzz from time to time so that might be a thing to check out. I didn't change the strings until after a few days and the guitar was constantly out of tune with the stock ones. But after that it holds the tuning quite well (I use D'Addario 10-46).
