Expertise, Enquiry & Teaching Interests
Dr. Chang's research agenda focuses on ii complementary areas: Motor Development and Physical Education Instructor Education: His primary research area is the motor competence and physical activity of disadvantaged preschoolers with developmental delays. The intent of this research is to sympathise the complex interactions of multiple subsystems from the task, environment, and child in order to develop and implement high quality motor skill interventions in schools, communities, and families. His second line of research is to identify the types of teachers' content knowledge (CK) and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) and how CK and PCK play a pregnant role in promoting students' central motor skills in physical instruction class.

Undergraduate/Graduate Student Research Supervision
Dr. Chang has supervised undergraduate students' research activities through SKIP (Successful Kinesthetic Instruction for Preschoolers) motor skill intervention programme. In particular, Dr. Chang helped students understand how constraints (task/performance/environs) influence motor performance, develop competency in assessing the motor performance of immature children, improve the ability to collect, clarify, and evaluate data, and nowadays the findings of their research via a poster presentation.
